Keaton Jennings made a brilliant 135 from 134 balls, Marcus Harris 71 from 46 and 17-year-old Joe Moores a career-best unbeaten 41 from 15 as Lancashire racked up 383 for four in their 50 overs, the second highest List A total in their history, to set up a 21-run victory over Leicestershire Foxes in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.

After slumping to 22 for four, Ruan de Swardt’s List A career-best 126 off 116 balls, coupled with Hamza Shaikh’s 91 off 88, gave Leicestershire an outside chance of pulling off a remarkable win.

With Ben Cox (43 off 25) and Tom Scriven (39 not out off 24) chipping in as well, in falling short the Foxes were left to rue a poor performance in the field that saw five catches dropped, a costly missed run-out and 26 conceded in wides and no balls.

Match-winner Keaton Jennings said:

“We were probably over par with our total and they batted nicely in that middle period, which got them a little bit closer than maybe they should have. In this sort of format, if you don't keep taking wickets, the game always gets closer than you think it would.

“But I think we bowled really nicely and we batted well. It was a good pitch but hard work up front with the new ball for both sides. That’s where I thought with the ball we were exceptional. If you knock over four up front as we did, it’s always going to be hard work.

“With the batting, I thought Hursty went about his knock very nicely and Mooresy at the back end played beautifully. He's fearless, he’s got the shots and hopefully he keeps building on it and gets an opportunity at some point to go and play an extended knock, rather than a little cameo.

“Myself, I haven’t put in performances like that this year, so hopefully that kickstarts my season. I should have been run out in the 90s but you take the rub of the green. Sometimes you don’t nick one and get given out.”
