Lancashire have moved quickly to appoint Paul Farbrace as their new director of cricket, the former England assistant coach moving North from Sussex.
Farbrace will take on the responsibilities of outgoing duo Mark Chilton and David Thorley to oversee the running of the cricket department at Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground, incorporating both the men’s and women’s set-ups.
The 59-year-old stepped down as Sussex’s head coach at the end of the season, guiding them to a notable third-placed finish in Division One of the Rothesay County Championship despite having started 2026 with a 12-point deduction because of financial issues.
