Northern duo Lancashire and Durham are the favourites in the pre-season betting markets for promotion from Division Two of the Rothesay County Championship.

The Red Rose finished mid-table in last year’s second tier, while Durham were relegated amidst an incredible final-day batting collapse against Yorkshire at Headingley last September when safety was in the palm of their hand.

We have chatted to Ridley to get an idea of where the Red Rose’s main promotion rivals sit ahead of 2026, and he has also spoken about what we can expect from new all-round signing Paul Coughlin, who made the winter move down the A1.
