Lancashire’s start to the season from a men’s perspective is quite a difficult one to assess, I would say, because the results have told a different story to the performances at times.
They haven’t played their best cricket yet, but they’re still in a very good position in the table - only one win off getting themselves into second.
They were obviously very unlucky in the first game at Northamptonshire. Despite dominating that game and nearly winning, it probably felt more like a defeat given they couldn’t take that last wicket.
But the Derbyshire game at Emirates Old Trafford, they will have felt they were quite lucky to win that one given how small a total they were defending on that last day.
