Steven Croft is hoping a knee injury suffered whilst running with members of his Lancashire squad this winter will not curtail his plans to play some summer league cricket for Blackpool at his beloved Stanley Park.

Just before Christmas, the Red Rose head coach signed on with the Northern Pyramid club, where he learnt his trade as an up and coming all-rounder. The club described it as a “full-circle” moment.

Croft, 41-years-old, had only recently been appointed into the county’s top coaching job, so any appearances were only ever going to be sporadic.

And they may still happen, of course. The Blackpool football fan is certainly hoping so. But it’s just that he can’t be certain at this moment in time of a first appearance for them in 10 years.
