Lancashire’s men's second string begin their four-day Second XI Championship campaign this week when they travel to Lancot Park, Totternhoe – the home of Dunstable Town CC – to play Northamptonshire, starting tomorrow.
For those of you not familiar with the second-team structure, the Championship is in the second year of a ‘new look’ with the 18 counties split into three Conference Groups of six teams, each team playing five matches. The two group winners with the best record will compete in the Second XI Championship final in September.
Last season, Group Three winners Nottinghamshire missed out with Surrey (Group Two) defeating Worcestershire (Group One) in the final.
