Rivington Pike x Lancashire Cricket. The two have gone hand in hand for more than two decades now, the scenic hiking trail in between Bolton and Chorley proving a key part of the county’s winter training programme.
At the end of November, Friday 28 to be precise, Lanky Lanky went along to see what it was all about as members of the men’s squad took on a challenging but fun and rewarding morning of pre-season yakka. And there was an overwhelming sense of, ‘Teamwork makes the dream work’.
Just a few weeks earlier, the women’s squad had taken on the same pursuit.
On this particular morning, the likes of Keaton Jennings, Josh Bohannon and new signings Ajeet Singh Dale and Paul Coughlin all took part, amongst others. Director of cricket performance Mark Chilton was there, new head coach Steven Croft as well. So too was his second-team counterpart Dan Salpietro, the Australian whose appointment had only just been announced.
