Peter Moores and Championship titles. It really is a combination which fits like hand and glove. You could even call him the magician from Macc.

Few Lancashire supporters would have disagreed with that statement, especially around mid-September 2011. Fast forward a decade and a half and Nottinghamshire’s fans will be feeling the same after the popular 63-year-old delivered them the same four-day prize.

Last September’s triumph at Trent Bridge was Moores’ fourth Championship title with three different counties. No other coach had previously tasted success in this competition with a trio of counties. Previously, it was Lancashire in 2011 and Sussex in 2003 and 2006.

This summer, Red Rose fans will have their eyes fixed firmly on Division Two and a promotion push. Their interest in Division One, for now, will purely be a passing interest.
