We have to rewind to Christmas time as legendary Lancashire seamer Kate Cross looks to the future for the county’s women’s team and structure.

England star Cross was still basking in the glory of winning the Vitality County T20 and Metro Bank One-Day Cup double with the Red Rose, also claiming personal recognition via the 1864 Members’ women’s player-of-the-year award.

In 2025, she claimed 28 wickets in 24 all-format appearances, added to one half-century with the bat. The Heywood-born star also took her 200th career wicket for all Lancashire teams last June.

“I was at the members’ Christmas party in The Point and was asked to take part in a Q and A session on stage, which Warren Hegg was running,” said Croft. “It was myself, Steven Croft, Ajeet Singh Dale and Dan Salpietro, the new men’s second-team coach.
