“We roll on,” says Dan Salpietro, Lowerhouse’s Australian professional as he looks back on a successful 2025 for the Burnley club’s first team and sets out their aim for a repeat this summer.
You see, Salpietro is talking about a Premier League title triumph in the Lancashire League, won by a landslide margin from Todmorden. They won six more matches than their closest rivals and triumphed by a little over 60 points (12 for a win).
It wasn’t an entirely perfect campaign down at the Brooks Foundation Ground. They were beaten in the T20 final by Littleborough, for example. But it was a memorable one, nonetheless, having also won the early-season Ron Singleton Colne Trophy, the league’s equivalent of football’s Charity Shield.
They had won the Worsley Cup the summer before and then beat league champions Burnley to start last summer with a bang. Salpietro, captain Ben Heap and co will be aiming to do the same again this Saturday when they travel to cup winners Ramsbottom.
