When you look at Lancashire’s Championship summer, their lack of runs is clearly the main issue, and unfortunately it seems to me as if the young and homegrown players not kicking on as much as was hoped is a key reason.

Matty Hurst is out of the side, Harry Singh hasn’t nailed it down and Michael Jones has struggled as well.

When the pressure’s on and they’re needed, they just haven’t been at it.

And I do wonder whether that’s having an impact on the likes of Keaton Jennings and, to a lesser extent, Marcus Harris.
