Vitality Blast women's competition - Lancashire Thunder 131 lost Hampshire Hawks 135/1 by nine wickets

Nancy Harman took an unlikely three-for in her first bowl of the season as Hampshire Hawks thrashed Lancashire Thunder to reclaim the top of the Vitality Blast women’s competition table.

Harman only entered the attack after Poppy Tulloch was barred from bowling after a second no ball, but took three wickets in nine balls to end Lancashire’s innings on 131 all out.

Emma Lamb top-scored with 30 before Hannah Jones claimed the only wicket of the Hampshire chase. 

Maia Bouchier continued her insane form with her seventh fifty in her last nine innings to make sure the chase of 132 was simple, and victory came with a bonus point. She finished unbeaten on 77 off 45 balls. 

Lancashire Thunder captain Ellie Threlkeld:

“It was quite a good pitch and we got behind the game almost immediately. It was tough to then build some momentum to come back from that.

“The middle and lower or did well to get us to a total but ultimately we left too many runs out there and it was hard to defend.

“Lamb and I probably did all we probably could in that situation to get something on the board but it was difficult to come back to the run rate. Ideally one of me or Lamby would have still be around at the end.

“We knew Bouchier was in great form and would be key to their batting order but we didn’t get enough runs.

“Ultimately the way we set out to play in this campaign, we didn’t execute at all today. We just got it wrong and that can happen in T20 cricket.”
