The men’s Second XI made a brilliant start to their Championship campaign with a thumping 332-run victory against Northamptonshire at the start of the month, but have suffered a rocky start in the Second XI T20 Trophy.

A half-century by George Bell plus 41 from both Harry Singh and Joe Moores along with 32 by Rocky Flintoff had helped position the Red Rose side at 191-3 early on the first afternoon against Northamptonshire after being put in to bat in seaming conditions.

A collapse to 252 all out, principally at the hands of George Scrimshaw (5-34) followed, but Lancashire’s four-man seam attack of Ollie Sutton, Tom Walker, Charlie Parkinson and Luke Hands combined to skittle the hosts for 153 on day two.

An outstanding, record-breaking, partnership of 373 between Singh and Kesh Fonseka at the top of the Lancashire second innings utterly transformed the game.
